Summer Activities at the CLCRC Girls Circle Training The Carter Lake Resource Center will be hosting a Girls Circle Training July 4 & 5 at the Carter Lake Library. The Girls Circle is a model of structured support groups for girls from 9-18 years old. It is designed to foster self-esteem, help girls maintain authentic connection with peers and adult women in their community, counter trends toward self-doubt, and allow for genuine self-expression through verbal sharing and creative activity. Girls Circle integrates relational theory, resiliency practices and skill building utilizing a strengths based approach and increases protective factors, pro-social behaviors, connection, personal skills and strengths and competence. As a participant in the training, you will receive a facilitator binder with everything needed to facilitate a Girls Circle. Summer Adventures -
Jr./Sr. High School Program
This summer teens in Carter Lake will have a chance to make a difference. Throughout the month of June we will be working with Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs. We will meet a teen whose family is getting a Habitat home, work on projects for that house, tour other construction sites and learn more about poverty and power you have to stop it. If you're interested in joining the project call the Resource Center at 347-6006. The kick-off party for this project will be on May 29 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the stage at the CLCRC! Hope to see you there!!
Summer Fun Days- K-6th grade Program
The Summer Fun Days program will consist of cooking classes and field trips. All cooking classes are held on Mondays on the stage at the Carter Lake Elementary School at 1:00 p.m. All field trips are held on Tuesdays and we will meet at the Carter Lake Elementary School at various times. Please call the CLCRC at 347-6006 if you are interested in receiving information about the Summer Fun Days. Registration forms are due by May 30.
